PLAYER of the Day – Michael Manring

Today’s PLAYER is  one-of-a-kind bass player: Michael Manring. Without a doubt, he is alone in his area of bass playing. He boggles my mind with his various tunings, postion changes and a constantly evolving harmonic perform, all on four strings. Here is a clip of Michael playing something that evokes so much feeling, so much musical originality that I don’t think that I ever heard anyone come close to the brilliance of this, a true solo bass performance of the highest musical order.
